Don't Shop! Adopt!

Did you know that you can find any breed of dog in a rescue or in a shelter? So why spend thousands, when you could be saving a life?
Plus, shelters and rescues spend money on their pets to make sure they are healthy, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered!

—  Adopting from MOAS—

All adopted animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and microchipped prior to going to their new homes. Vaccinations appropriate to the age of the animal are provided.
The adoption fee of $85 for dogs over 6 months, $110 under 6 months and $75 for cats covers these services.
If you are interested in completing an adoption application, click the link titled Adoption App at the top right hand corner of this page.
*****Completing an adoption application on an animal does not guarantee an adoption.*****

Please note that pets featured may no longer be available, or there may be new animals not yet pictured. Please stop in and visit us to meet all of our pets currently available for adoption.
Be sure to keep an ear open for any specials we may be having on adoptions. Some of our pets will have reduced adoption fees to help get them to their new homes faster!

                                                                                               STAR PET::: BOBO

                                                                                            STAR PET::: BOBO

At the animal shelter, our vow to all the animals is that we will do all we can to get them adopted. With that comes hardwork, dedication, and persistence.
Bobo is no exception this rule. He needs our help, and your help, to get him adopted.
When visiting the shelter, Bobo will stand out to you, but not for being an outgoing fella, but for being shut down and terrified.
Bobo almost automatically goes to the opposite side of the kennel from where ever someone is. Because of this, he has yet to be adopted, and he has been at the shelter for 13 weeks with ZERO interest.
What people do not understand, is that this personality flaw does not make him a bad dog, it just means he needs more love than the average dog. He wants to he petted and loved on so bad, but he is just too scared to trust anyone. (I actually was able to pet him for the first time this past weekend on his terms.)
So if you are looking for a really good dog that just needs some help to exit his shell, please think about adopting Bobo. He needs you, and you never know, you might need him!

—  Donate—

The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization that
is successful due to the donations it receives from it's supporters.
MOAS does receive a lump some of money from the 2 counties it supports,
but the shelter would not be able to survive without the donations
it receives.

Donating can be easy and fun!!!

Consider donating your old sheets and bedding. This makes the nights for the shelter dogs more comfortable, and warm on winter nights.
Toys are a fun thing that people love donating. What is more fun then buying a toy for a pet, and then spending time with them playing with the new toy?

Treats are another fun thing to donate, because the eyes of the pets light up when they smell that fresh aroma of a tasty treat!

If you are interested in donating, contact the shelter at 706-795-2868.
We will let you know what our pets here need the most,

— Foster —

**WE ARE desperately seeking foster homes in anticipation for the arrival of Kittens and puppies**

**If you are interested in fostering, please fill out the application below**

If you’re not able to adopt a pet, but would like to help out and care for some of the animals, then fostering is a great option for you!

Many of the animals in the shelter cannot show you how loving and affectionate they can be because being housed in a shelter can be a stressful and terrifying experience for them.
When you foster, you can provide a temporary loving home until they find their forever home. Fostering also helps the shelter keep extra space open for any animals that are surrendered or brought into the shelter.
Food and supplies for the animal are provided to the foster parent at no charge.  All medical care is provided by our shelter vets and the animals all have age appropriate vaccinations prior to going to your home.
If you are interested in fostering for MOAS, please contact the shelter at 706-795-2868. From this point, ask for our Foster Coordinator who will help get the application process started for you.

Past Events and Fundraisers

                                                        MOAS and Motorcycles

On April 22nd, the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter hosted an event called MOAS and Motorcycles. This event was a benefit ride for the pets at the shelter, where a total of 35 bikes were involved. The ride started at The Hawg Pen in Athens, GA, and ended at the shelter where there was food and vendor booths awaiting their arrival. The shelter made a great amount from this event, and we will be planning to host this event as an annual fundraiser. On this day 7 pets were adopted, most of which were long time residents. We want to send a big thank you to all the vendors, donors, bikers, The Hawg Pen, and MCPD for taking part in this event!

Bark and Wine

The Bark and Wine is the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter's biggest fundraiser. This fundraiser takes place EVERY year, so if you missed it this year, just wait, it's coming back! This event is so much fun! Full of good company, good food, good drinks, and fun items to bid and raffle on. We always have live music, and the best part is that the tickets purchased in advance are only $25.00! (At the Door - $30.00).

We want to thank all of the donors that made this event such a success, and make it a great success every year! We also want to thank everyone who came out and helped us raise money for our beautiful and loving shelter pets!

   Santa Paws 2017

This year was as fun as previous years with Santa Paws! We were able to witness the excitement in many children's eyes once they saw Santa! Remember, this is an annual fundraiser, so every year we have photos with Santa and fun games! This year, we even had our very own Movie Theater which featured the Christmas Hit Movie, Polar Express, and we offered delicious popcorn!
Hopefully, we will see you next year!!!
