We have been at max capacity in our adult dog runs for over a year now. Before surrendering in a stray dog in Madison County or Oglethorpe County, we strongly ask our community to first help us by:

  • Ask your neighbors.

  • Post the dog on your social media and share to lost pet pages.

  • If you can safely take the dog to the closest vet clinic or to us to scan for a microchip.

  • If you are able to foster the dog until we have space open up, we can provide you with supplies to help take care of the dog. Learn about fostering by clicking the button below.

Thank you…

We want to take this time to send a warm thank you to our interim director Shaina Knight for coming to our rescue last year in early August 2022 when we needed an experienced leader to help us during a big staffing change. Shaina first came to MOAS October 2017 and transformed the shelter into the success it is today. We sadly said goodbye to her in 2020 as she took off on new adventures but was always just a phone call away if we needed help. After our previous director in 2022 left to attend vet school we needed a leader to step in and help get the shelter back in order. Thank you Shaina for all your wonderful effort to staff the shelter, secure grants and help new leadership move forward successfully.

Spay & Neuter Your Pets to Save Lives

At MOAS, we love kittens and puppies as much as anyone does, but not when we have too many! Kitten and puppy season starts early in the year and floods the shelter with unwanted strays and unplanned litters well into fall. Many of these precious babies won't make it out of the shelter, especially given how vulnerable they are to illness and disease. Spay & Neuter your pets now to be part of the solution, not part of the problem!

Need help with stray animals? Contact our shelter for assistance. Just bringing us the babies without altering the parents does not fix the problem!
