Our low-cost spay/neuter clinic provides excellent surgical care at affordable rates to help address the problem of pet overpopulation. Altering your pet ensures that he or she will not have any unwanted litters and typically provides multiple health and behavioral benefits for your pet, including lower risks of certain types of cancer.

Our spay/neuter clinic is open to anyone; you do not have to be a Madison or Oglethorpe County resident to have your pet altered at our facility. However, you must make an appointment.

Surgery FAQ:

When do I pay my surgery deposit?

Surgery deposits must be paid directly after submitting an appointment request in order to receive a surgery appointment.  Deposits are a non-refundable $50 per animal. Pay the deposit by clicking here.

Do Spay it Forward applications have to pay a deposit?

All applications require a deposit.  SIF applications will receive a full refund after arriving to their scheduled appointment.

Are there any pre-op instructions for my pet?

Your animal should not have any food or water after midnight the night before surgery.  Please ensure that your animal is clean and free of fleas at drop-off.

When do I drop off my pet?

Drop-off is between 8:30-9am on the morning of your appointment.

When will I pick-up my pet?

All animals will be picked in the afternoon on the day of surgery.

How will I know my pet is ready for pick-up?

You will receive a phone call from a staff member when your animal is in recovery.  Pets must be picked up no later than 3:30pm unless stated otherwise by staff.

What happens if I am late to pick-up?

A late fee of $20/pet will be charged for every 30 minutes that you are late for pick-up.

What if my pet has fleas?

In order to maintain a sterile environment, animals with fleas will be given flea medicine at the owner’s expense prior to surgery.

Does my pet need to have a rabies vaccine?

All owners must show proof of current rabies vaccination prior to surgery.  If no proof can be shown, the animal will receive a one year vaccine prior to surgery at the owner’s expense.

How long will I wait for an appointment to be scheduled?

We are typically booked 4-5 weeks out.  We will send you an email with your appointment date as soon as one is available.  Please check your spam mail too!

Fill Out The Form Below to Request an Appointment!

You will receive an email once our schedule has an opening. (Please check your spam/junk folders.)

If you are booking a spay/neuter appointment through our Spay It Forward Program, the $50 is refundable once you show to your spay/neuter appointment. If you are booking a regular spay/neuter appointment, your deposit will go towards the cost of your spay/neuter surgery.

Please be sure to fill out one appointment request for each pet that needs an appointment.

Note: If you are a resident of either Madison or Oglethorpe County and you qualify for financial assistance due to your income, we may be able to spay or neuter your pet for free! Both counties have authorized a limited number of free spay/neuter slots each month, so contact the shelter to see if you qualify and book yours quickly! Low income vouchers are available on a first come, first served basis and are extremely limited.
